'Puzzle' is Well Made, but a Few Pieces are Missing

Based on the film Rompecabezas, Puzzle is one of those little-known independent films that sneaks into theaters with little to no fanfare, although the fact that it is being promoted “from the producer of Little Miss Sunshine” should help it get noticed somewhat. Puzzle is a quiet, little film about a woman who discovers that jigsaw puzzles are the key to changing her life. While the subject matter doesn’t sound all that exciting, the film really isn’t about puzzles but instead about one finding their voice, or so it appears. It’s also a message film that has its own agenda expecting the audience to agree with the choices of the main character and applaud her “brave” behavior. Frankly, it just feels manipulative.

Directed by Marc Turtletaub, Puzzle’s most impactful scene comes within the first few minutes. We see Agnes (Kelly MacDonald) cleaning up the house and they decorating it for a birthday party. Then we see her serving appetizers while being ignored by the guests. …

Roseanne Barr Just Killed Her Own Show with Unwise Comments

The now former cast of Roseanne. (ABC)

What a blow to fans and everyone involved in ABC’s now former top hit show Roseanne. After Roseanne Barr tweeted negative comments about former President Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarett on Monday, Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment just issued the following short statement:

“Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

The Roseanne reboot was a number one show and a huge ratings booster for the network and it employed a large cast, not to mention a team of writers and show staff who are no doubt hurt by this decision.

In her tweet, Barr said, "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr wrote, replying to a tweet which has been taken down which accused Jarrett of helping to cover up alleged misdeeds for the Obama administration reports The Hollywood Reporter. When Twitter followers stated that her statement seemed racist, Barr scoffed, “Muslims r NOT a race.”

She followed up her rants with an apology early this morning saying, "I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste." And then posted another saying that she is leaving Twitter. Unfortunately for her, she is also leaving her hit show.

I doubt that this is over. Stay tuned.
