Shyamalan's 'Glass' is Engaging Almost Until the End

MOVIE REVIEW
I don’t think anyone will deny that M. Night Shyamalan is a great storyteller. He initially proved that with the release of The Sixth Sense. The symbolism of the color red, the odd scenes that made very little sense until the end of the movie and of course, the amazing twist that nobody saw coming. That incredible twist has almost been the director’s undoing. Since 1999, not one of his other movie’s endings have had the same impact, but he continues to try.

In 2000, Mr. Shyamalan hoped that lightening would strike twice with Unbreakable which also starred Bruce Willis. Like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable was a mystery only this time, the story featured the lone survivor of a train crash who left the accident without a scratch on him and an incredibly fragile, wheelchair-bound, comic book enthusiast which appeared to be the polar opposite. The story was intriguing, but basically fell apart near the end when the twist was revealed. Now almost 19 years later, the same thing ha…

This Day in Pop Culture for May 5

The song "Reunited" by Peaches and Herb rose to #1 on May 5, 1979.

Peaches and Herb are 'Reunited'

On this day in 1979, the pop duo, Peaches and Herb were “Reunited” (and it felt so good) when the song reached #1 on the Billboard pop chart. But here’s the thing, over the years, there have been actually been seven “Peaches” who partnered with Herb. In the late ‘60’s, Herbert Feemster was paired with Francine Barker but due to the rigors of touring, Marlene Mack toured with Herb as a stand in. The act ended in 1970. Then, in 1976, he found a new partner, Linda Greene and the duo had hits with “Shake Your Groove Thang” and “Reunited.” This must successful pair recorded seven albums, but split somewhere between 1983-1986 as Greene recorded new gospel music with her husband, Stephen Tovani. The fourth “Peaches” came in the form of Patrice Hawthorne in 1990. In 2002, Miriamm became the fifth “Peaches.” In 2008, it was reported that Wanda Makle would record an album with Herb, but that didn’t pan out as she was dropped in favor or “Peaches” number seven, Meritxell Negre from Spain and the first non-black “Peaches.” It is reported that currently, Herb is back to performing with Mackle.
