Shyamalan's 'Glass' is Engaging Almost Until the End

MOVIE REVIEW
I don’t think anyone will deny that M. Night Shyamalan is a great storyteller. He initially proved that with the release of The Sixth Sense. The symbolism of the color red, the odd scenes that made very little sense until the end of the movie and of course, the amazing twist that nobody saw coming. That incredible twist has almost been the director’s undoing. Since 1999, not one of his other movie’s endings have had the same impact, but he continues to try.

In 2000, Mr. Shyamalan hoped that lightening would strike twice with Unbreakable which also starred Bruce Willis. Like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable was a mystery only this time, the story featured the lone survivor of a train crash who left the accident without a scratch on him and an incredibly fragile, wheelchair-bound, comic book enthusiast which appeared to be the polar opposite. The story was intriguing, but basically fell apart near the end when the twist was revealed. Now almost 19 years later, the same thing ha…

Lady Gaga was born on March 28,1986.

Lady Gaga is Born That Way

There might not be another polarizing pop singer than Lady Gaga. It was on this day in 1986 that Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga, was born in Manhattan. Equally talented as she is a spectacle, Gaga began playing the piano at the age of four, wrote her first song at 13 and performed for the first time at "open mic" events at age 14. While Gaga performed in high school musical productions and even appeared in a short scene of The Sopranos TV series. Gaga studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. In 2005, she formed her own band called the Stefani Germanotta Band, but the world first got to know her when her first album, The Fame, was released in 2008. The album featured the hit songs, “Just Dance,” “Poker Face” and “Paparazzi.” Since then, the singer has released five other albums. Lady Gaga has won six Grammy Awards, Three Brit Awards, a Golden Globe, 13 MTV Video Music Awards, 12 Guinness World Records and was the first recipient to win the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s Contemporary Icon Award. She will star with Bradley Cooper in a remake of the 1954 movie, A Star is Born, which is expected to be released on September 28, 2018.

P.T. Barnum Joins Forces with James Bailey

Entrepreneur P.T. Barnum, became a natural salesman at the age of 12 selling lottery tickets and cherry rum to soldiers. Later, he tried out a variety of businesses, including newspaper publishing and running a boarding house. But he didn’t find his true calling until 1871. His new venture was called “P.T. Barnum's Grand Traveling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan, and Circus: The Greatest Show on Earth” which was quite a mouthful. By this day in 1881, Barnum joined forces with James Bailey and James Hutchinson, and in 1887, the re-branded circus went by the name of “The Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth.” Barnum died on April 7, 1891 and his circus was bought by the rivaling Ringling Brothers in 1907. On May 21, 2017, the circus performed its last show in Uniondale, New York.
