'Puzzle' is Well Made, but a Few Pieces are Missing

MOVIE REVIEW
Based on the film Rompecabezas, Puzzle is one of those little-known independent films that sneaks into theaters with little to no fanfare, although the fact that it is being promoted “from the producer of Little Miss Sunshine” should help it get noticed somewhat. Puzzle is a quiet, little film about a woman who discovers that jigsaw puzzles are the key to changing her life. While the subject matter doesn’t sound all that exciting, the film really isn’t about puzzles but instead about one finding their voice, or so it appears. It’s also a message film that has its own agenda expecting the audience to agree with the choices of the main character and applaud her “brave” behavior. Frankly, it just feels manipulative.

Directed by Marc Turtletaub, Puzzle’s most impactful scene comes within the first few minutes. We see Agnes (Kelly MacDonald) cleaning up the house and they decorating it for a birthday party. Then we see her serving appetizers while being ignored by the guests. …

Hannah Kerr is a 'Warrior'

Hannah Kerr talks about her new single, "Warrior"

 MUSIC

Though Hannah Kerr was born into a musical family, it was never her intention to become a singer. However, when her family moved from Buffalo, N.Y. to Nashville, Tennessee, she began to approach her musical talent with the heart of a worshipper rather than a performer. She began writing music and performed a little. One of her recordings caught the ear of Sawyer’s Brown lead singer and Casting Crowns producer, Mark Miller and just like, she became the first artist signed to Black River Christian.

With more than 20 stations on, Kerr's new single “Warrior” has launched as the most added song at Christian Radio. The song, as well as a pop-infused “Warrior (Battle Cry Remix),” were written by Alyssa Bonagura and Tami Hinesh, and are available now at all digital retailers and streaming services. Nearing 1.7 million streams, “Warrior” is the follow up to Kerr's “Radiate,” from her debut full-length album Overflow.

“I’m so excited for people to hear this song because when I think about what a warrior is, to me a warrior really can be anyone and everyone,” shares Kerr on her new single. “We all face seasons of hardship and we all have to keep the hope alive and fight through the struggles we go through in this life. To me, a mom, a student, or a soldier fighting for our country is a warrior. Someone fighting against an illness or a disease is a warrior. The list could go on and on. My hope is that listeners are inspired by this song and remember that in the midst of what we are facing, we have a God who is always fighting for us.”
