'Puzzle' is Well Made, but a Few Pieces are Missing

Based on the film Rompecabezas, Puzzle is one of those little-known independent films that sneaks into theaters with little to no fanfare, although the fact that it is being promoted “from the producer of Little Miss Sunshine” should help it get noticed somewhat. Puzzle is a quiet, little film about a woman who discovers that jigsaw puzzles are the key to changing her life. While the subject matter doesn’t sound all that exciting, the film really isn’t about puzzles but instead about one finding their voice, or so it appears. It’s also a message film that has its own agenda expecting the audience to agree with the choices of the main character and applaud her “brave” behavior. Frankly, it just feels manipulative.

Directed by Marc Turtletaub, Puzzle’s most impactful scene comes within the first few minutes. We see Agnes (Kelly MacDonald) cleaning up the house and they decorating it for a birthday party. Then we see her serving appetizers while being ignored by the guests. …

Believe it or not, the reality TV series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, has been airing on the E! network for ten years now. To celebrate, the network will be airing a month-long Kardash-a-thon: Every Episode Ever marathon starting on August 28 and ending on September 24. From the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (with the exception of the noon-2:00 p.m. block) every episode of every Kardashian TV series will be aired including Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami, Kortney & Kim Take New York, Kourtney & Kime Take Miami, Khloe & Lamar and Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons. (Yes, these are all real TV series.)

This all leads up to a 10 year anniversary special on September 24 where host and executive producer of the series and special, Ryan Seacrest "sits down with Kris, Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie to reflect back on the most monumental events in their lives.”

According to the network, “Throughout the years, the family has remained genuine, compassionate, and vulnerable with the viewers and this special will delve into what it’s been like for the family to live all the triumphs and hardships in front of the camera.” At this point the E! network should just change their name to K!
