MOVIESThe new untitled Star Wars movie about a young Han Solo has officially began production as of yesterday at Pinewood Studios in London according to Disney and Lucasfilm. The new movie will share the adventures of Han Solo and Chewbacca that happened before Star Wars: A New Hope including encounters with Lando Calrissian.
Han Solo will be portrayed by Alden Ehrenreich who was most recently seen in 2016’s Hail, Caesar! Playing Hobie Doyle, the squeaky-clean singing cowboy. Chewbacca will be played by Joonas Suotamo, but you’ll never know it under that rug of fur and Donald Glover will be playing Lando. Also joining the cast is Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton and Phoebe Wall-Bridge. The new movie is being co-directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” Lord and Miller said. “We can't think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”
Han Solo is said to appear in theaters on May 25, 2018.
