Shyamalan's 'Glass' is Engaging Almost Until the End

I don’t think anyone will deny that M. Night Shyamalan is a great storyteller. He initially proved that with the release of The Sixth Sense. The symbolism of the color red, the odd scenes that made very little sense until the end of the movie and of course, the amazing twist that nobody saw coming. That incredible twist has almost been the director’s undoing. Since 1999, not one of his other movie’s endings have had the same impact, but he continues to try.

In 2000, Mr. Shyamalan hoped that lightening would strike twice with Unbreakable which also starred Bruce Willis. Like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable was a mystery only this time, the story featured the lone survivor of a train crash who left the accident without a scratch on him and an incredibly fragile, wheelchair-bound, comic book enthusiast which appeared to be the polar opposite. Michael W. Smith to Appear on 'CMA Country Christmas'

Michael W. Smith and Martina McBride (ABC)
For those keeping score, Michael W. Smith will appear on the CMA Country Christmas special for the third time. Tonight, he will share the stage with Martina McBride singing “What Child is This,” a pairing that is featured on his Christmas album, Michael W. Smith & Friends: The Spirit of Christmas which was released last year. He is also scheduled to sing with LeAnn Rimes.

Last year, Smith paired up with Carrie Underwood (who stole the show) singing Smith’s “All is Well.” Smith is starting to become a regular staple of these specials who have broadened their musical scope to include acts, like Smith, who are not usually associated with country music and this year is no exception. This year the acapella group, Pentatonix and retro rock star, Brian Setzer join the line up.

Taped at the Grand Ole Opry House, the CMA Country Christmas special will once again be hosted by Jennifer Nettles with additional performances by Kelsea Ballerini, Dan + Shay, Mickey Guyton, Jewel, Charles Kelley, David Nail, Darius Rucker, Brian Setzer and Lindsey Stirling. The special airs at 9:00 p.m. on ABC. If you miss tonight's airing, chances are that you'll be able to catch it again before the holiday season is over.
