Gospel singer Bryan Popin and Big Idea Entertainment, home of the leading faith-based studio and producer of the children's brand, VeggieTales found a way to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts from their Nashville, TN hubs. Big Idea donated VeggieTales school supplies, toys and clothing to families that have been displaced from their homes because of Hurricane Harvey's flooding and storm damage. Popin, his wife Susan, and four of their children ferried VeggieTales supplies to a holding facility for the Church of Christ Disaster Relief Center in Nashville, TN in preparation for an upcoming delivery to Houston area families.

"We wanted to do something to help the families that have suffered so much from the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey," said Leslie Ferrell, General Manager of Big Idea Entertainment. "Hopefully our toys, games, Veggie school supplies and t-shirts will bring a smile and some comfort during this very difficult time."

"I have 5 kids and one on the way, and I love being a dad. I don't know how parents are finding the words to help their kids cope with all the loss and chaos. When I heard that my kids' favorite talking veggies, VeggieTales, were going to make a donation and needed help making the delivery, my hand (and my kids' hands!) went up! So glad we can help bring a smile to the faces of kids who have lost so much," said Bryan Popin.

'VeggieTales' Pioneer Heads to Space

Galaxy Buck arrives in October 2015.
(Creative Trust)
Phil Vischer, one of the creators of VeggieTales (and the voice of Bob the Tomato) is taking characters from his other series, What's in the Bible?, into space this October.

"Buck Denver and Friends learned a whole lot while making What's in the Bible? and now it's time to put that knowledge into practice," said Vischer. "Where better to do that than in deep space? Galaxy Buck gives us a whole universe to explore while showing kids what following Jesus looks like in real life. It isn't enough to know our faith. Through a group of lovable, space-faring puppets,Galaxy Buck will help kids learn to live their faith. I'm excited for families to join us for the ride."

For Vischer, the project is a very “hands on” experience. Not only does Vischer write and voice every line of the characters, but he has also hand-carved some of the miniature sets used in the new series and has explored different unique filmmaking techniques with the crew at Jellyfish Labs.

The first DVD in the trilogy, Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9, will be released on October 20, 2015. The series is produced by his studio Jellyfish Labs in partnership with Creative Trust, which previously collaborated with Vischer on the successful Buck Denver Asks®...What's in the Bible?

"True to brand, Phil Vischer is not just creating a new series, he is concocting an innovative mash-up of exceptional story-telling with the most endearing group of characters in the universe," said Dan Raines, President of Creative Trust."Thanks to Phil and his creative team, there will not be a dull moment."
