Steve Whitmire, who has voiced the great green one for over 25 years after the death of Muppets creator Jim Henson, has been replaced reports ABC News. A spokesperson for Muppets Studio, which is owned by Disney, has confirmed that Matt Vogel will now voice Kermit beginning next week with the short Muppets Thought of the Week video which is presented on The Muppets YouTube channel each Monday. However, Disney has not said the reason for Whitmire’s departure or whether it was Whitmire’s decision to leave.

Vogel is not new to the Muppet puppet business. He was worked with the studio since 1996 voicing characters like The Count on Sesame Street and Muppet musician Floyd. Ironically, he also voiced Kermit’s look alike nemesis, Constantine, in the movie Muppets Most Wanted. The plot thickens.
