Now in its 17th year of celebration, the comic book industry celebrates the art and storytelling of comic books with Free Comic Book day on the first Saturday of May. It’s a way of giving back to fans and reaching out to new readers.

According to Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) over 2,300 comic book shops around the world will be giving away over 5,7 million of these free comics this weekend. "Free Comic Book Day is shaping up to be quite an event," said FCBD spokesperson Michael Moccio. "With such a broad range of titles this year tying into major properties like Guardians of the Galaxy, Wonder Woman, Rick & Morty, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, new and existing fans alike will find something they'll want to keep up with throughout 2017."

Among this year’s offering of free titles include the return of Underdog, an adaptation of Archie Comic’s TV series Riverdale, Disney’s Descendants, Barbie, The Tick, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a lot more. In fact, 37 different publishers are offering 50 exclusive comic book titles and editions for Free Comic Book Day 2017.
