Joanie Loves Chachi

One of America’s most popular sitcoms, Happy Days, ran for 10 years. During the time, five spin-offs were produced including the one that premiered on this day in 1982: Joanie Loves Chachi. The show took Joanie Cunningham (Erin Moran), Chachi Arcola (Scott Baio) and Al Delvecchio (Al Molinaro) and moved them to Chicago as to see if the two lovebirds could make it as a rock band. Initially, the show ran four episodes to fairly good ratings in 1982. When the show returned in September, the ratings fell significantly. In 2010, TV Guide considered the show one of TV’s “Biggest Blunders.” The characters returned to their places on Happy Days during the next season.
