William Shatner is Born

William Shatner was born on this day in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on this day in 1931. Shatner is best known for portraying Captain James Kirk on TV’s original Star Trek TV series which ran on NBC from 1966-1969. In 1973 he voiced the character for an animated Saturday morning TV series. In the mid 1970’s Paramount began working on a new TV series called Star Trek: Phase Two but then switched their attention to create the feature film Star Trek: The Motion Picture released in 1979. Shatner then appeared in other Star Trek movies with the last, Star Trek: Generations, released in 1994. Shatner has also written numerous fiction and non-fiction books related to the famed TV series. However, Shatner has also had starring roles in other properties including T.J. Hooker (1982-1986), 3rd Rock From the Sun (1999-2000), Boston Legal (2004-2008), $#*! My Dad Says (2010-2011) and most recently, Better Late than Never (2016). His most recent work includes voicing the character of Two-Face for the upcoming Batman ’66 animated movie with Adam West and Burt Ward.

The controversial Southern Baptist minister-turned television evangelist Pat Robertson was born on this day in 1930. Robertson has been the founder of many organizations over the years including The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), the International Family Entertainment Inc. (now Freeform), Regent University, the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) and more. He is best known as the host of The 700 Club TV program and for running for president in the 1988 presidential election. He also has had a few odd theories about God’s judgment on the citizens of America from time to time.
