Charlie Peacock is Born

Charlie Peacock was born on August 10, 1956.

Better known by his stage name, Charlie Peacock, Charles William Ashworth was born on this day in Yuba City, California. With vocals that some have described as “intelligent, innovative and difficult to categorize,” Peacock has found success as a singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer and author. He has come alongside many Christian singers and bands including Amy Grant, The Civil Wars, Switchfoot, Russ Taff and others. His first self-titled album was released in 1986, he produced the band The Choir in 1987 and partnered with Margaret Becker in 1988. From 1990 to 1999, Peacock produced over 50 albums. In 2015, Peacock was given the title of Director of Contemporary Music and Industry Outreach at Lipscomb University’s College of Arts and Entertainment in Nashville, a role he accepted with his given name of Ashworth.
