The Big 10: Actors You Forgot Were on 'Pee-Wee's Playhouse'

1.    Lawrence Fishburne
Known for his work in The Matrix series, Fishburne played Cowboy Curtis. Think 1950’s squeaky clean cowboy with a mullet.
 

2.    Gregory Harrison
Harrison starred on Tapper John, M.D. from 1979-1985. For Playhouse, he voiced Conky 2000 (a robot who gave Herman the “secret word” each week) for the first season and then played Knucklehead (a large fist with googly eyes who told knock knock jokes)
 

3.    Jimmy Smits
Known for his roles on L.A. Law and NYPD Blue, Smits played Johnny Wilson, the authorized Conky repairman
 

4.    William Horace Marshall
Known for his work in the films Blacula and Scream Blacula Scream, Marshall played the role of King of Cartoons.
 

5.    Natasha Lyonne
Known for her roles in the American Pie movie series and Orange is the New Black TV series, Lyonne played one of the Playhouse Gang children.
 

6.    Alisan Porter
Porter is known for starring in the film Curly Sue and most recently won season 10 of The Voice, Porter also played one of the Playhouse Gang children.
 

7.    Bernard Fox
Fox played Dr. Bombay on Bewitched and Colonel Crittendon on Hogan’s Heroes before appearing as Dr. Jinga Janga who would appear when Jambi (a genie played by John Paragon) would get sick.
 

8.    Calvert DeForest
Better known as Larry “Bud” Melman on Late Night with David Letterman, DeForest played Rusty, an old man that acted just like one of the Playhouse Gang children.
 

9.    Sandra Bernhard
Comedian Bernhard played Rhonda, the Picturephone operator who had a crush on Pee-Wee.
 

10.    Phil Hartman
Known for his work on Saturday Night Live and the sitcom NewsRadio, Hartman played Captain Carl, a sea captain who brought odd things from the ocean for show and tell.
