The Beatles Won Four Grammys on February 29, 1968.

On this day in 1968, The Beatles won four Grammy awards for their eighth studio album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band including Album of the Year. At the time, it was the first rock LP to ever receive this honor. Released the year before on June 1st, the album was a huge success and stayed on top of the British music charts for 27 weeks and 15 weeks in the U.S. Musicologists regard the album helped to advance extended form of music and one of the first art rock albums. As of 2014, more than 30 million copies of the album had been sold worldwide.
