According to the Disney Parks Blog, (and really, how more of a reliable source do you need?), it was announced today during the D23 Expo (the comic-con-like event for Disney fans) that both Disneyland in Anaheim, California and Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida would be receiving a new "land" themed around the worlds of Star Wars.

The Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger told the more than 7,500 fans at the Anaheim Convention Center that each park would receive a 14-acre expansion that would allow guest to experience life in another galaxy far, far away. “I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars,” said Iger. “We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”

It was not reported exactly where these two lands would be placed in the parks and if any of the current "lands" or attractions would be sacrificed for the new project, but there has been speculation from some sources that Disneyland could lose Mickey's Toon Town in the process. Disney has also made some land purchases in Anaheim around the park, but reports have said they would be used for more parking and operation buildings.

The new Star Wars Lands will include two larger attractions that would involve guests to drive the Millennium Falcon and to experience a space age battle. It was not reported on the time line of these projects, but for some fans, it could not come soon enough.
