App of the Week

Patience is a virtue is what we are told over and over again, and yet it never seems to make a difference. As the good folks at Disney Insider have pointed out, there was span of 16 years between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and it's been 10 years since Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Waiting is hard, but Lucasfilm has found a way to help fans weather through the storms of life until that fateful day when when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters. Their solution? An app of course. And it's free!

Lucasfilm has released a new free Star Wars app. Now, apps based on Star Wars is nothing new, but Mickey Capoferri, the Senior Director of Online Content and Programming at Lucasfilm says that this on is like no others. “It’s a connection to the pulse of the Star Wars franchise. Everything that’s happening around the brand—it’s news, it’s animation, it’s gifs, it’s augmented reality experiences. It’s your daily dose of Star Wars,” says Capoferri. “On a daily basis I can check in and find out everything that’s going on in the world of Star Wars but more importantly you can interact with these fun, native mobile features that I do anyway, but [in] Star Wars versions.”

Capoferri went on to say that they expect this app to be around for a long time – at least ten years – and it will continue to grow. “If you download the Star Wars app from the app store, you’re never going to miss anything in the Star Wars universe.”
