Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Sneak Peek

Photos: Walt Disney Animation Studios

Today, the Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind "Tangled" and "Wreck-It Ralph," has just released the new trailer for “Frozen,” a Disney-fied comic adventure based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale of “The Snow Queen.”

Kristoff and Sven

This November, in time for a holiday release, “Frozen” is a Danish tale about two sisters, Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) with a difference of opinion. Temperamental Elsa has used her powers to freeze the kingdom of Arendelle in an eternal winter, so it is up to Anna to rein her in. She is teamed up with mountain man Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), his loyal reindeer Sven and Olaf (Josh Gad) a short snowman that keeps falling apart. Along the way, they encounter Everest-like conditions, trolls and more.

“Frozen” is the first Disney feature to be filmed in ultra widescreen film format since 1959’s “Sleeping Beauty.” It no doubt changed its title from “The Snow Queen” to “Frozen” for the same reason that “Rapunzel” was changed to “Tangled” – so boys would feel comfortable going to a “princess” movie.

“Frozen” is directed by Chris Buck ("Tarzan," "Surf's Up") and Jennifer Lee (screenwriter, "Wreck-It Ralph"), and produced by Peter Del Vecho ("Winnie the Pooh," "The Princess and the Frog"). It features music from Tony® winner Robert Lopez ("The Book of Mormon," "Avenue Q") and Kristen Anderson-Lopez ("In Transit"). "Frozen" will arrive in theaters in 3D on November 27, 2013.
